Europe is working for peace in Ukraine

Europe, together with Ukraine, is working on a new ceasefire proposal with Russia. This includes, among others: creation of a “peace council” with the participation of US President Donald Trump.

Europe wants peace in Ukraine

Reuters reports that as many as four of its sources have confirmed that European countries, in cooperation with Ukraine, are working on a new proposal for a ceasefire in the war with Russia. The front line of autumn 2025 would be frozen, and a “peace council” would be established, headed by US President Donald Trump. The body would supervise the implementation of the ceasefire conditions and is to be modeled on the idea of the American 20-point plan for the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, on Tuesday, European leaders appealed to Washington to maintain a tough stance towards Russia. A summit of 35 countries that support Kiev is to be held in London on Friday. During it, forms of long-term support for our Eastern Ally will be analyzed.

Does Europe matter in this game?

Europe’s efforts, however, raise the question whether it counts at all in the international game. In recent months, Trump has shown several times that he is the main player here, not the European Union or even individual countries from this part of the globe.

No one has any illusions: without his meeting with Vladimir Putin, nothing will change regarding Ukraine. The talks were supposed to take place now, but they were canceled. No information was given when both sides – Russian and American – will officially return to the negotiating table.

The USA is probably playing for time. It can be assumed that Trump knows that it is the latter that Americans need the most to prepare for a potential war with China. The same applies to Europe, which must now make up for lost time and quickly arm itself in the event of a conflict with Russia.

However, the main cards in their hands are Trump and Putin, and – paradoxically – still Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukraine is taking a stand, it has not given in to US pressure and I am continuing the war. At the same time, recent events show that Europe, although trying to launch a diplomatic counteroffensive, remains dependent on the Americans.

In the background, the cryptocurrency market is still waiting for the situation to calm down. Bitcoin’s price dropped below $110,000 again.
