The Trump Organization is tokenizing the construction of its resort in the Maldives. However, the project is different from other initiatives of this type

The Trump family’s company, the Trump Organization, is tokenizing a resort now under construction in the Maldives. However, you can invest in the project’s tokens now, and not only when the resort is built.

Trump Organization tokenizes luxury resort

The Trump Organization and the London Stock Exchange-listed developer Dar Global are launching a tokenized project – a luxury hotel in the Maldives, expected to be one of the most exclusive holiday destinations in the world.

Both companies say it will be an “unprecedented financial innovation.” The idea is that unlike most tokenized real estate projects, which divide ownership of completed or almost completed properties into parts, the new initiative will allow investors to invest in tokens now, i.e. at the earliest stage of construction.

Trump International Hotel Maldives does not exist yet – it is scheduled to open only at the end of 2028. What exactly should it look like? Firstly, the resort is located near the island of Malé. The luxury estate will include approximately 80 luxury beach villas. These are facilities that guarantee “the highest level of privacy, exclusivity and sophistication.”

As Eric Trump, executive vice president of The Trump Organization, said in a media statement, the new resort development initiative will set a “new benchmark for tokenized real estate investments”:

This investment will not only redefine luxury in the region, but will also set a new benchmark for innovation in real estate investing through tokenization.

Tokenization is reaching a new level

Asset tokenization is the process of transforming real or digital assets – such as real estate, works of art, gold, shares in companies or copyrights – into digital tokens saved on the blockchain. Each token represents a specific portion of a given asset, allowing it to be easily transferred, shared, and traded in a way similar to cryptocurrencies, but based on actual value.

Thanks to tokenization, it is possible to fragment high-value assets into smaller parts, which lowers the entry barrier for investors. For example, a high-value property can be divided into hundreds or thousands of tokens, allowing many people to invest in it with small amounts. This increases the liquidity of assets that were previously difficult to trade.

The idea of the Trump company may prove groundbreaking, as it will make it easier to finance this type of investment and construction projects.
