The cryptocurrency world has seen rug pulls, flash crashes and memecoins born from dog photos. Now you can add something new to this list: an AI bot that wanted to give the user the equivalent of a coffee, but instead fired a six-figure amount into the blockchain.
No, this is not another meme from the crypto-twitter community. It’s Lobstar Wilde and his fatal mistake.
An AI bot that made a fatal mistake
He had access to the wallet. He could sign and broadcast transactions directly on the network. Alone. Automatically. No confirmation. Sounds like absolute power to an AI bot? And it is true, but as this case shows, it is also extremely dangerous.
What happened?
The bot was supposed to send the user a small token reward – the equivalent of about $4. Instead, by mistake, he overflowed your entire balance.
The specific numbers are impressive:
- Approximately 53 million Lobstar tokens were sent in one transaction
- That’s about 5% of the total supply
- The recipient quickly sold the tokens, realizing a profit of $40,000
- After a subsequent increase in the exchange rate, the transfer value reached even $250,000
And no, it wasn’t a hack. The transaction was completely correct. The bot authorized it itself, and the user received his reward… only multiplied enormously.
Why did Lobstar Wilde send $250,000?
Several layers of error can be identified. The bot probably misinterpreted the API response, confusing the transfer amount with the full wallet balance. In addition, there was no spending limit, no multi-sig verification and no simulation step before executing the transaction. In short – full autonomy without any security, which, as you can see, can end in a spectacular failure.
The Lobstar Wilde AI bot can teach us a lot
Lobstar Wilde is not just a viral anecdote from crypto-twitter. This is a clear signal of structural change. AI agents are starting to hold assets, manage treasuries, and move capital on their own. They become real market participants.
The principle of “code is law” has never been more literal – when AI controls private keys, its decisions become financially and legally final.
Autonomous agents that fully control cryptocurrency wallets and make decisions on their own fire the imagination and suggest a future in which artificial intelligence will be able to provide the owner of such a wallet with a gigantic advantage. Up to this point, there has been a very common question about the safety of such autonomous agents and their decisions.
Lobstar Wilde gave us the answer for now. And it’s not very optimistic.
