How much does Mateusz Morawiecki have?

In our series on what Polish politicians are investing in, I have already examined the assets of Donald Tusk, Jarosław Kaczyński and Szymon Hołownia. Today it is time for the former prime minister. How much does Mateusz Morawiecki have in his account?

Mateusz Morawiecki and his estate

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the assets of Mateusz Morawiecki and his wife. The idea even emerged in public debate that politicians’ wives would also have to publish asset declarations. The idea was that the former prime minister allegedly transferred a large part of his assets to his wife.

In this series, I am basing my analysis on the official asset declarations that politicians submit every year. Morawiecki’s case will be no different. The Sejm’s website contains the latest declaration from the end of April this year.

The document shows that at the time of submission, the former prime minister had savings of around PLN 328,700 (including funds in PPK – employee capital plans). In addition, there were treasury bonds worth as much as PLN 4,031,439.

Real estate

Morawiecki also owns a house with an area of 150 m2 and a value of approx. PLN 1.9 million. In addition, he owns a flat with an area of 72.4 m2. Value? Approx. PLN 1.1 million.

In the “Other real estate” section, the former head of government wrote:

  • another house with an area of 100 m2 and a value of approx. PLN 3.5 million (including the plot of land, of which Morawiecki is a co-owner) with farm buildings,
  • 50% of the segment (so-called terraced house) with a total area of 180 m2 and a value of PLN 600,000 (valuation of the half owned by the politician, not the entire building) together with a plot,
  • agricultural plot worth PLN 200,000 and an area of approx. 2 ha.

Components of property

Politicians must also include in their declarations assets whose value exceeds PLN 10,000. Morawiecki listed here:

  • kitchen furniture worth approx. PLN 60,000,
  • furniture worth approx. PLN 80,000,
  • furniture worth approximately PLN 100,000,
  • furniture, built-in furniture after renovation – approx. PLN 115,000,
  • two pieces of technical equipment worth approximately PLN 15,000 each.

No, this is not the end…

Morawiecki also included in the statement his “right to deferred bonuses”, which concerns his previous work at Bank Zachodni WBK. In addition, he lent his sister about PLN 300,000.

The former prime minister also boasted about the donations he made for various purposes:

However, Morawiecki does not own – like other politicians whose fortunes I have described – shares, gold or cryptocurrencies.
