One of the largest cryptocurrency scandals in history has had a breakthrough. The US Department of Justice announced the launch of a compensation process for victims of the international OneCoin investment scheme. If you fell into this trap, you now have a real chance to recover at least some of your money.
The scale of fraud is impressive – the story of OneCoin
Between 2014 and 2019, OneCoin co-founders Ruja Ignatova and Karl Sebastian Greenwood and their partners constructed a gigantic global investment scheme based on fake cryptocurrency. Victims from around the world donated a total of over USD 4 billion. OneCoin operated through multi-level marketing (MLM) and was successfully disguised as a legitimate platform for years. Cryptoqueen knew what she was doing and she did it with panache.
What can you do now?
More than USD 40 million from seized assets was allocated to the victims. The program administrator is Kroll Settlement Administration LLC. Of course, this is a fraction of the stolen funds, but it is better than nothing – which is standard in cases of this caliber.
Applications can be submitted free of charge via the onecoinremission.com portal or by phone. The deadline is June 30, 2026. Submitting an application does not guarantee payment – injured parties must prove a real net loss, taking into account any previous payments or recovered funds. The assistance of a lawyer is not required, and participation in the program is completely free. If someone asks you to pay for help in submitting an application, these are scammers who want to prey on people who have already lost money on OneCoin.
What about the culprits?
Greenwood pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of $300 million. Irina Dilkinska, head of OneCoin’s legal department, was given four years and had to return over USD 111 million.
Ignatova herself? He is still at large. She is listed on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list, and there is a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading to her arrest. The State Department has raised the stakes – it is offering a separate award of up to USD 5 million. Cryptoqueen has been successfully on the run for years.
The moral is simple: If something is advertised as the “cryptocurrency of the future” through an MLM network and promises astronomical profits, it is not a cryptocurrency. It’s bait. OneCoin has never had a real blockchain. All he had was a marketing machine and millions of naive victims.
You have until June 30, 2026. If you want to get your funds back – act.
