On May 27, the pre -sale of tickets for the Metallica concert, which will take place on May 19, 2026 in Chorzów, started. The problem is that many fans paid for tickets, but they did not receive them. What exactly happened and as the largest metal team in the world could help blockchain technology?
Metallica – no money and tickets
Metallica announced another concert tour, as part of it, on May 19, 2026, it will appear in Chorzów. On July 27, pre -sale for the most loyal fans – members of Metclub, and the band’s fan club started. The problem is that some of the music lovers remained without money and without tickets.
During the purchase process, something strange happened: the money “came down” from bank accounts, but some buyers received an error message and an unrealized transaction. As a result, they stayed with a smaller balance and without an e-existence for a concert. The situation normalized after a few hours. It is not known how many people paid for the ticket and did not receive it, but by concluding after the activity of disgusted fans on Metallica groups on Facebook, the problem could have been common at some point. The worst thing about all this was that the Ticketmaster, a company that was involved in sales, no longer offers paper tickets, only electronic.
Ticketmaster quickly announced that people who have not received e-bilers for their accounts on its platform within 90 minutes of purchase must try to buy them again. The funds were to be returned within a maximum of 3 business days.
It is worth adding that similar problems occurred in Germany and Switzerland.
Blockchain can help?
This is another example that blockchain technology could help in real life. I asked Paulina Paprzycka about my opinion, a co-funder of Tixy, who can help solve this type of problems that Metallica fans encountered:
The problems encountered by the Ticketmaster when selling tickets to the Metallica concert show how complex and sensitive process is the distribution of tickets with high interest in fans, and thus a significant load on the system. At the same time, this situation draws attention to the need to further develop technologies supporting this process – so as to reduce the risk of errors, increase security and strengthen fans’ trust.
One of the directions that can help in limiting such situations that we are currently developing in tixes is integration with blockchain technology, under which each transaction is immediately registered in a decentralized register. Blockchain ensures the invariability of entries, which means that once a registered transaction cannot be changed or deleted. This allows you to easily track the ticket purchase history, which is helpful in the case of system problems. So we can say that Blockchain watches over safety here. What’s more, thanks to the unique ticket identifiers saved in Blockchain, the system can immediately detect and prevent double reservation attempts at the same place. We believe that this technology will help to provide fans, artists and the ticket office itself more peace and sense of security.
