Charles Hoskinson hosted a holiday stream on YouTube, where he outlined Cardano’s plans for 2022.
The founder of the project spoke about the boom in NFT and DeFi and hacks in the world of decentralized finance. He claims that such cybercriminal activities led to the loss of over $10.5 billion in 2021 alone.
The project’s head also mentioned achievements. One of them is the issuance of “two million assets,” most of which are NFTs. Hoskinson added that based on his blockchain, dApps are writing as many as 127 projects. Between 20 and 30 of them will debut in the next three months.
Cardano Goals for 2022
According to the company’s CEO, Cardano’s goal for the next year is to build institutions that support the project and launch a formal open-source structure:
Next year we will create a formal open-source project structure, something like Hyperledger for Linux. Many institutions will join the network, and all the people currently working on it will be migrated, including me.
Africa has always been part of Cardano’s strategy. Next year, the project plans to expand to the continent, where financial integration is still lacking. That’s why the Cardano Foundation plans to “build a financial operating system” that will give Africans access to DeFi services.
My goal for the second half of 2022 is to figure out how to put all the pieces together to have an end-to-end microfinance transaction on Cardano.
In the middle of the year, IOHK and World Mobile joined forces on an initiative that will use the Cardano blockchain to create digital identities, mobile internet connectivity, and financial acceptance for communities in Tanzania. Their main goal will be to provide a good quality internet connection while using sustainable, powered energy sources.
Micky Watkinsgeneral director World Mobile He then commented on the cooperation with IOHK as follows:
World Mobile has built a network based on a new relationship between people and connectivity, where ownership, governance and identity work to empower the user and make the network accessible to all in a sustainable way. I am pleased that we have entered into a symbolic partnership with Input Output. Together, our efforts will open up a new world.
