Probitcoin mayor
Adams took office in 2022. He is credited with his merit in reducing crime (he is a former policeman) and recovery of the economy. In May, Adams announced that New York is “open to business” and cryptocurrency companies. At the end of the same month, he announced the creation of the Digital Advisory Council. He promoted his future city “world capital of cryptocurrencies”.
There is an era of tokenization, including cryptocurrencies, blockchain and other fintech innovations, and we will continue it
He said then.
He wanted the issue of bitcoin bonds and renewed appeals for the abolition of the strict Bitlicense program in New York. In his way, the city controller of New York, Brad Lander, stood in his way, who rejected this proposal, claiming that it was “legal and irresponsible financially”.
The leader of the polls, Mamdani, has not yet specified his position on cryptocurrencies, but the industry seems concerned about his socialist views.
Democrat Andrew Cuomo ranks second in the polls. Earlier he worked as an OKX cryptocurrency exchange advisor. He was also conflicted with Adams, the latter criticized him for the fact that during his term of office New York “dismantled and destroyed” the local cryptocurrency industry.
Elections to the Mayor of New York will take place on November 4, 2025. Adams will be the mayor until his successor took the office on January 1, 2026.
