The Polish police warn: fraudsters are still prowling on the web who rob the victims using the “cryptocurrency” method. Another case of this type was reported by a woman who literally lost her property.
Another victim of fraudsters
The police from Gniezno informed about the case of a woman who fell victim to cryptochusters. First, she found a advertisement on Facebook, from which she learned about the possibility of investing in cryptocurrencies. The next one completed the contact form and soon after the advisers contacted her. Interestingly, communication took place not traditional by phone, but through the WhatsApp application. This should already be considered a warning signal. Then it was only worse: the scammers convinced Gniezno to install a special application and then to transfer money to their account.
The woman transferred a total of approx. PLN 850,000. Of course, she lost all funds.
The action of the perpetrators is that they call the victim, offering fast and large profit. Fraudsters manipulate their victims so that they think they would invest in cryptocurrencies. However, the reality is completely different, because the fraudster installs a program on the phone or the computer of the victim enabling the so -called remote desktop. Then the company’s representative contacts the victim, offering an investment related to cryptocurrency. The caller urges the victim to download the application, e.g. used to install a remote desktop. Using it, the fraudster can perform operations on the victim’s computer, e.g. incur instant loans, perform unauthorized transactions or “lead” the accumulated savings
– warns the police.
The police say how to not get fraudsters
The police warn to be on guard, especially when the “investment advisor” wants to get your data quickly, offers the possibility of generating quick and high profits thanks to investments in cryptocurrency and urges you to install a remote control program on your equipment.
The above points are clear warning signals. However, it is worth remembering the basic principle: there is no such thing as a quick, reliable and safe investment. The market – which is natural – works so that it offers high profits, but the price is a higher risk and often a long waiting time for a return on investment. And vice versa: safe investments do not guarantee high profits, often only at a level that allows you to cover the losses resulting from inflation. It is worth taking this in mind when someone tries to convince you that it is different and offers a “brilliant” investment.
