Cryptocurrencies in Poles’ pockets
As part of the CBOS survey, Poles were asked “if they invested in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin or related assets (e.g. funds).” There was also the question of whether they still had them.
What did it turn out to be? Men dominate this market: as many as 10.4% invest in digital assets – only 2.2% of women do the same. Young and middle-aged people also dominate here: the 18-44 age group.
However, we do not invest much in cryptocurrencies: the average portfolio value is approximately PLN 20,000. PLN. However, this means that in total our compatriots invested approximately PLN 40 billion on this market. One third of respondents declared amounts below PLN 1,000. PLN.
Polish Bitcoin Party?
The above data is important for… politicians. The issue of cryptocurrencies has become highly politicized in our country. The information that as many as 2 million people are interested in and invested in cryptocurrencies is a signal that there is a large, not fully exploited electorate.
The following data from the last elections to the Sejm prove that there is something to fight for. Only 1.5 million voters voted for the Confederation, and 3.1 million for the Third Way, i.e. the alliance of PSL and Poland 2050. For the New Left – 1.856 million. This means that the entire pro-cryptocurrency electorate is larger than the number of voters of the former SLD or Confederation in 2023.
Due to the Cryptocurrency Act and zondacrypto problems, the issue of cryptocurrencies has become political in Poland – attacks from the government (and manipulations by politicians from this camp) may trigger reactions and cause some of these people to start looking for a pro-cryptocurrency political offer. KO doesn’t have it.
