Former head of state on the fintech supervisory board. And not just any one – the one that handles payments between cryptocurrency exchanges.
Andrzej Duda, former President of the Republic of Poland (2015-2025), joined the supervisory board of ZEN.com – a Rzeszów-based fintech founded in 2018, which is rightly called the “Polish Revolut”. The information was confirmed by the interested party himself on the X website and in press interviews.
Andrzej Duda – from the Presidential Palace to the world of fintech
After years of public service, I want to use my experience to support the development of technologies and innovations that have a real impact on the economy
– Duda explains his decision. It sounds like a standard declaration from an ex-politician, but the details are intriguing.
ZEN.com is not just a payment app. As its founder Dawid Rożek emphasizes, the company wants to be something more – a financial ecosystem for those who are afraid of online shopping. It offers “peace of mind” to customers who are afraid that the ordered phone will arrive in the wrong color or that the tablet will fall into the bathtub. Ambitious, it must be admitted.
Importantly, ZEN.com supports payments between cryptocurrency exchanges – an element that adds additional flavor to the whole story. At a time when fintechs and blockchain are increasingly intertwining with traditional finance, such a move by the former president may signal openness to new technologies.
Smartphone versus Nokia 3310
Andrzej Duda compares the difference between traditional banks and ZEN.com to the transition from ordinary mobile phones to smartphones. The former president argues that Polish banks have excellent digital services, but ZEN.com goes even a step further. In Duda’s words, he encourages the management to think not only about young users, but also about his generation, which “is increasingly digitally active.”
The former president emphasizes that he “assumed co-responsibility for supervising ZEN.com to be an institution that is as safe as possible for consumers.” He also announces that perhaps in the future he will sit on “some more boards of various institutions.”
After leaving the Presidential Palace, Andrzej Duda also started hosting his program on Krzysztof Stanowski’s Channel Zero. Now comes fintech with cryptocurrencies in the background. Interesting twist.
