Trump Survives an Attempt on His Life: What Do Ethereum Developers Say?

Donald Trump Survives an Assassination Attempt, for the Second Time! Ethereum Developers Are Struggling to Efficiently Execute the Long-Awaited Pectra Update, and Jerome Powell Is Wondering How Much to Lower Interest Rates. What Else Happened in the Cryptocurrency Market?

How is the cryptocurrency market developing in a nutshell?

It all started in 2008, when a mysterious person or group called Satoshi Nakamoto published the white paper for Bitcoin – the world’s first blockchain-based cryptocurrency. A year later, in January 2009, the first Bitcoin block (the so-called “Genesis Block”) was mined, officially starting the revolution in the financial market that we are still witnessing today.

In the following years, the cryptocurrency market began to develop intensively. In 2010, the first recorded service transaction using Bitcoin took place – the purchase of two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. In 2015, the Ethereum cryptocurrency debuted, which introduced smart contracts and revolutionized blockchain technology, giving rise to the wide use of DeFi (Decentralized Finance).

In 2017, China, which was one of the largest cryptocurrency markets, introduced a ban on cryptocurrency trading and ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings). This event significantly affected the market prices, but in the long run cryptocurrencies survived and global adoption did not slow down. Such numbers are not with crypto!

The following years brought many ups and downs, and Bitcoin became known to a wider audience during the Covid-19 pandemic rally. One of the key events in the regulation of the cryptocurrency market was the adoption by the European Union of the MiCA Act in 2023. This act introduced uniform rules for the trading of digital assets in all member states, which was aimed at increasing investor safety and transparency in the unregulated market.

In the rest of the article, you will learn what events today have had the greatest impact on the cryptocurrency market. But before that…

A few words about the exchange rates of the most important cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin’s price has plunged again after the media reported another failed assassination attempt on Trump. Now it is trying to regain lost levels. Ethereum is showing weakness not only compared to BTC but also to the entire cryptocurrency market. Altcoins are not bleeding, but they are desperately waiting for an opportunity to grow, remaining stagnant and boring investors with the current market situation. Tomorrow’s announcement on interest rates in the US may bring an injection of new fuel.

  1. Bitcoin – $60,916.42
  2. Ethereum – $2,376.37
  3. Solanum – $134.46
  4. BNB – $549.79
  5. TONE – $5.56

The most important news on Bitcoin.pl

The number 1 topic on Bitcoin.pl is now the release of a new version of ChataGPT by OpenAI. Editor Jeremiasz Krok described the topic in detail. Apparently, artificial intelligence already has a higher average IQ than the average person. I think that in today’s times it wasn’t particularly difficult to achieve.

Information that heats up the media space

Secret Service foils another attempt on Donald Trump’s life

Although another, the second, attack on Trump took place on Sunday afternoon, it is still heating up the media space to the greatest extent. And it is hardly surprising, because we are talking here about the potential future president of the United States, currently the largest power on the globe.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Secret Service agents spotted a man armed with an AK-47-style rifle hiding in the bushes near a Florida golf course where Trump was relaxing. The agents opened fire, forcing the gunman to flee in his black SUV. Two backpacks and a GoPro camera were later found near the property’s fence. The suspect was eventually identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. He got away, but not far enough. A witness took a photo of his license plate, which helped police locate him and arrest him on Interstate 95.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris expressed relief that Trump was not injured. Both strongly condemned the violence, and leaders across the political spectrum called for an end to such attacks.

Trump Launches ‘World Liberty Financial’

Trump has finally launched his long-awaited crypto project, World Liberty Financial. The project will offer cryptocurrency lending services on the Ethereum network, similar to other popular DeFi solutions. WLF claims to be more user-friendly than its competitors. It is also to offer a non-tradable token, WLFI, that will not be subject to trading. The sale of the token is to be regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC.

“There was no VC pre-sale, no early buys,” WLF team leader Zak Folkman said in an interview.

All purchasers of the WLFI token will be verified using the same KYC standards that U.S. cryptocurrency exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken rely on. While an excerpt from World Liberty’s white paper reviewed by Decrypt emphasized that the WLFI tokens are not intended to be considered securities, the tokens will be offered pursuant to Rule 506(c) of Regulation D of the SEC — meaning they will be sold as unregistered securities under an SEC exemption that allows such products to be offered in the United States to accredited investors.

The SEC defines accredited investors as financially sophisticated individuals who have earned $200,000 in one of the last two years, earned a combined $300,000 with their spouse or spouse’s equivalent in the last two years, have a net worth of $1 million or more with or without a spouse, or are a broker-dealer or financial professional.

Ethereum Developers Consider Splitting Pectra Update

Ethereum developers are considering splitting the highly anticipated Pectra update into two parts, with the first phase likely to launch in early 2025. It has been suggested in the ETH community that splitting the update into two parts may be a safer option, as smaller forks tend to carry less risk.

The Pectra update for the Ethereum network combines two separate updates: the Praga update and the Electra update. The Praga update focuses on changes to the execution layer of the network, while the Electra update affects the consensus layer. Ethereum has undergone a number of significant updates in recent months, but so far this has not had a significant impact on the valuation of the ETH token.

The volume of bets on elections on Polymarket is already approaching a billion dollars

Polymarket is a blockchain-based betting platform. It has become particularly popular in the face of the ongoing presidential campaign in the US, because it is through it that crypto-investors can bet on the victory of one of the candidate sides.

Polymarket’s election betting volume has reached $926 million at the time of writing, indicating growing interest in the decentralized betting market. With the US election just 48 days away, the volume is expected to reach $1 billion soon

Data from Dune shows that almost 70% of Polymarket’s weekly users focus on election-related bets, while non-election-related users make up the remaining 30%. This highlights the central role of political events in driving engagement on the platform. It’s also possible that shortly after the election, Polymarket hype will drop significantly.

Polymarket’s other key metrics have also seen significant growth recently. Total platform value locked (TVL) has increased by 277% since June, reaching almost $120 million. Additionally, monthly active users have increased by 50%, reaching 66,400 during the exact same period.

Binance Announces Two New Launchpools, First One Is Already Active

Binance has announced the addition of Catizen (CATI) and Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) as new projects to its Launchpool platform. Catizen is a cat-based gaming bot based on the Telegram mini-app platform that has been generating a lot of interest in the market. Hamster Kombat, on the other hand, is a classic clicker modeled on Notcoin, but with a number of improvements. In it, you can create your own hamster that becomes the CEO of your startup, and your goal is to grow it.

Since yesterday you can lock your BNB and FDUSD to farm CATI tokens via airdrop. The total prize pool is 90 million tokens — 76.5 million of which will be available in the BNB pool and 13.5 million in the FDUSD pool. Farming will last until September 19. Next up on Binance is the hamster.

A detailed explanation of how to participate in Launchpool can be found in the guide written by editor Maja Wirowska.
