Solar energy is to gain importance in the USA. The latest data from the US Energy Information Administration shows that companies are to add 33 gigawaty of sunlight to the power network, which will constitute more than half of the entire new electricity production added this year.

In the 1st half Br. Developers have already added 12 sunshine gigawatts to the network. This is not expected to end there, because their plans assume the addition of another 21 gigawatts before the end of the year. If this is implemented, solar energy would be over half of the 64 total new power planned for 2025, which would mean an unprecedented change in the development of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy mix.
That’s not all: battery -based energy storage systems also set new implementation records – 5.9 gigawata were registered in the first half of the year, but developers expect another 7 gigawatts to add until December.
For now, Texas becomes the capital of renewable energy. 27% of the new power installed in 2025 will fall on this state. Developers plan to add almost 10 gigawats to additional sunny power to the network. And before the end of the year. Until now, California was the leader in this field, but in 2024 “Mijanka” took place.
It is worth adding, however, that the development of the sun and land availability are needed to develop renewable energy. For this reason, the leaders in this field are Texas, Arizona and California. This is where the largest number of new installations is recorded.
The government will stand by the road?
Everything happens despite some blockades resulting from the white home administration policy. President Donald Trump criticized pure energy as a road and unreliable, declaring that his administration would not approve the creation of new wind farms or solar projects. Already during the election campaign he promised that he would fight something that in Poland is described as “green madness”.
It is worth adding that the development of renewable energy would be good for Bitcoin as a network, because renewable energy sources generate cheaper electricity, and thus allow you to increase the power of cryptocurrency blockchain after a lower cost. For example, in 2022, renewable energy sources accounted for about 35% of energy, which was used by BTC mines. In 2025, the share of renewable energy sources in the supply of Bitcoin network reached 52.4%.
