Samsung introduces stablecoins to the wallet. 1 billion users will receive native cryptocurrency payments – Bitcoin.pl

Samsung announced native support for stablecoins in the Samsung Wallet application. The information appeared on July 22 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 conference in London.

The presentation showed a stablecoin account with functions to send, receive and top up the balance. Digital assets are to be included in the same application as payment cards, tickets, loyalty programs and digital keys.

This is an important change because users will not need to download a separate cryptocurrency wallet. Stablecoins are expected to become one of the core functions of the Galaxy ecosystem.

However, Samsung did not provide the release date, list of supported countries or technical details. For now, this is an announcement of the direction of development, not a ready service.

Stablecoins will appear in Samsung Wallet

During the presentation, Lee Dinham, Samsung’s product manager, announced that Samsung Wallet will go beyond traditional payments and savings.

Samsung Wallet will encompass new forms of digital value, including stablecoins.

– said the company representative.

The presented screen showed an interface resembling a USDC wallet. However, Samsung did not confirm that the stablecoin issued by Circle would be included in the final version of the service.

It is also not known what blockchain networks will be used and who will be the technological partner of the project.

Why is Samsung’s announcement important?

The biggest barrier to cryptocurrency adoption remains complicated operation. The new user must select the appropriate application, create a wallet, secure keys and understand the differences between blockchain networks.

Samsung can remove much of these problems by placing stablecoins in an app that is already installed on the phone.

In practice, transferring digital dollars could become as easy as making a transfer in a banking app. The user would open Samsung Wallet, select the recipient and confirm the transaction with biometrics or PIN.

However, it is still unknown whether users will control the private keys themselves or whether the funds will be stored by Samsung or a third-party operator.

It has also not been confirmed whether stablecoins can be used to pay directly in stores. Such a possibility would require additional integration with payment systems or automatic exchange of stablecoins for traditional currency.

Samsung has been developing crypto solutions for years

This is not Samsung’s first contact with blockchain. Already in 2019, the company introduced a secured environment for storing private keys in Galaxy phones.

In the following years, Samsung Blockchain Wallet received support for Bitcoin, Ethereum and selected tokens. The company has also enabled Ledger hardware wallets to be connected to Galaxy devices.

In October 2025, Samsung expanded its cooperation with Coinbase. More than 75 million Galaxy users in the United States have accessed Coinbase services through Samsung Wallet.

The announcement of stablecoins is therefore the next stage of the strategy in which digital assets become part of the basic functions of the phone.

What can stablecoins in Samsung Wallet change?

Samsung’s biggest advantage is scale. The company does not have to convince users to install the new application. It can make the feature available directly in the Galaxy ecosystem.

Thanks to this, stablecoins can reach people who have never used a cryptocurrency exchange or a Web3 wallet.

Potential applications include fast international transfers, storing savings in digital dollars, and billing for online purchases and services.

Stablecoins could also become a simpler gateway into the rest of the cryptocurrency market. A person who learns to use USDC on their phone may later become interested in Bitcoin, Ethereum or Web3 applications.

However, this does not mean that the mere implementation of Samsung Wallet will automatically lead to mass adoption. Much will depend on transaction costs, supported networks, regulations, and the availability of the service outside the United States.

Will stablecoins in Samsung Wallet appear in Poland?

Samsung Wallet is now available for Polish users of compatible Galaxy devices. The application allows you to add payment cards, tickets, loyalty cards and digital keys.

However, Samsung did not confirm whether stablecoin support will be introduced in Poland or other European Union countries.

The company will have to adapt the service to MiCA regulations and regulations on anti-money laundering and user identification.

It is therefore possible that the function will first appear in selected markets and only later be extended to Europe.

The most important questions still remain unanswered

Before the premiere, Samsung must reveal some important information. The most important ones concern control over private keys, supported stablecoins, available blockchains and fees.

It is also unknown whether Samsung Wallet will be a stand-alone cryptocurrency wallet or an interface connected to the services of a bank, stock exchange or other financial institution.

These decisions determine whether the solution will be closer to a self-custody wallet or a traditional fintech application.

Stablecoins could become a regular feature of your phone

Samsung’s announcement shows that stablecoins are no longer a product intended only for investors and exchange users. They are increasingly treated as another form of digital money.

If Samsung actually simplifies their use to the level known from banking applications, the biggest change will not be new technology. It will be possible for millions of people who have not had any contact with cryptocurrencies to use stablecoins.

We still have to wait for the details. However, the direction itself is clear: digital dollars are to go from exchanges and Web3 applications directly to wallets installed in smartphones.
