Mentzen wants Bitcoin in the state’s strategy and digital courts – Sławomir Mentzen’s lecture at Next Block Expo – Bitcoin.pl

The Warsaw EXPO XXI hall is buzzing today with the largest cryptocurrency event in Poland – Next Block Expo. Over 5,000 participants, 200 speakers and 80 brands from the Web3 sector. Among the speakers there was someone whose presence here probably no longer surprises anyone – Sławomir Mentzen, a politician and one of the most recognizable national voices friendly to cryptocurrencies.

Will the strategic reserve in BTC actually pass the Sejm?

Courts in the 21st century – an indefensible anachronism

Mentzen started his lecture with a bang. One of the main themes of his speech was the need for deep modernization of the Polish state – with a particular impact on the justice system. The politician directly called the situation in which Polish courts still summon citizens to trials on the other side of the country a scandal. In the era of videoconferencing, electronic signatures and remote operation of virtually every service – such practices are not only archaic, but also real costs and wasted time of ordinary people, i.e. mounting bureaucracy.

According to Mentzen, digitization of the judiciary is not an option, but an obligation, and it is difficult to disagree with this.

Bitcoin as a strategic reserve? Mentzen says yes and will fight for it

The second, equally important topic is cryptocurrencies and their role in the modern economy. Mentzen declared that he would personally lobby for the inclusion of bitcoin in Poland’s strategic reserves. This is an idea that has been gaining more and more supporters internationally in recent months – the United States has already implemented a strategic cryptocurrency reserve.

The politician also reminded why blockchain changes the rules of the game in general: it is thanks to this technology that we are now able to send funds to the other end of the world – without banks, without intermediaries, practically in real time. This is an argument that is difficult to downplay when you look at the traditional international transfer system with its fees and processing time counted in days.

The event itself has grown to become one of the key Web3 events in the region. Two days, thousands of participants and dozens of projects presenting what is hottest in the industry. Mentzen’s presence on the conference stage is a clear signal – the debate about bitcoin and blockchain is moving from niche forums straight to the mainstream of Polish politics.
