Australian computer scientist and entrepreneur Craig Wright has claimed that Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin… plagiarized his work.
Speaking at the CC London Investment in Blockchain and AI Forum 2019, which took place from October 14-16, Wright said he plans to soon reveal definitive proof that he is the author of the original Bitcoin code. Is this another desperate attempt to convince everyone that Satoshi Nakamoto is him?
Craig Wright – Cynical Businessman or Madman?
Craig has a new version of his story. He now says Nakamoto plagiarized him. He believes he wrote the 2008 paper that became the theoretical genesis of BTC. Satoshi himself merely copied large sections of it into the Bitcoin whitepaper. After realizing he had referred to Nakamoto in the third person — even though he has long believed he is Satoshi — Wright said:
“Either I am Satoshi or Satoshi plagiarized me. You can make your choice, I don’t really care because he took whole paragraphs from my work. So it’s either me or… I don’t care if you like (my version).”
It is worth noting that Wright had previously consistently claimed that Satoshi Nakamoto was a pseudonym for himself and his deceased business partner, Dave Kleiman. After Kleiman’s death, Wright began arguing that he was, in fact, Satoshi Nakamoto.
Wright has thus become one of the most controversial figures in the crypto community. While he cannot be denied his contribution to the development of BTC – he has filed 114 blockchain patents since 2017 – his controversial statements lose their authenticity.
In addition, Forbes proved that Wright did not have the doctorates he boasted about on social media, which further worsened his image.
Wright and BTC Wealth
In early 2018, Wright was sued by Kleiman’s heirs, who claim that after their partner’s death in 2013, Craig wrongfully misappropriated more than one million BTC that the business partners had mined together in the early years of the cryptocurrency.
In late August, Judge Bruce Reinhart dismissed Wright’s testimony that was supposed to whitewash him. He allegedly provided the court with forged documents…
