Grok betrayed Elon Musk! Abstract giant quarrel on portal x

Something surprising has just happened in the world of artificial intelligence. Well, Grok, Chatbot created by Xai Elon Musk, publicly agreed with … Sam Altman, a competitive OPENAI CEO. It’s like Ferrari suddenly praised Lamborghini in the presence of Enzo Ferrari;)

Genesis of the conflict Musk vs Altman: lawsuit for a lawsuit

Knowledge of Elon Musk and Altman herself is a book example of very turbulent acquaintance. 10 years ago they both built the OPENAI start-up, later their paths diverged. Since the premiere of ChatgPT-3.5 in 2022, Musk is constantly biting Altman, suggesting him dishonest and unethical action in the artificial intelligence generative industry.

The strange story, which I describe today, began with a surprising tweet (though maybe XA) Elon Musk, who said that OpenAi allegedly manipulates the App Store in his favor, harming competitors and people he simply does not like. He mainly meant that no LLM was on #1 on Apple Store. This is a bold accusation towards one of the most influential companies in the AI sector.

Interestingly, the readers of the portal X themselves did not leave the case without specifics. They reminded the key facts:

  • In January 2025, Deepseek reached the top of the App Store
  • Just a month later, in July 2025, Perplexity also achieved first place in the ranking
  • Both cases happened after Opeli announced an Apple partnership in June 2024

Musk ended his entry with a laconic announcement: “Xai will take immediate legal steps” – which sounds like a quote from Hollywood legal films (or Japanese games).

Altman counterattacks and the grok echoes!

Altman himself answered in his characteristic style, accusing Musk of a lie quite perversely asked the boss Xai about whether he would sign a statement confirming that he never influenced the X algorithm X in such a way as to harm competition or help his own companies.

He also promised an apology if he was proven that he was wrong.

And here begins the most interesting part of the whole story. One of the users decided to check what is thinking about this dispute … the groc itself. Chatbot’s answer was like a cold shower for Musk:

Based on verified evidence, Altman himself is right. Musk’s theorem about the APPLE antitrust activities is undermined by the success of Deepseek and Perplexity in 2025. In turn, Musk has the history of managing algorithm X changes, which harm competitors and ongoing investigations. Hypocrisy recorded.

And is it too fair?

This is an unprecedented situation in the world of technology. Grok, which was supposed to be Musk’s answer to the “too politically correct” competition of competition, turned against his creator when he needed support the most. Moreover, he actually drew conclusions from Musk’s proceedings and agreed to Altman, despite the contradiction of interests.

We can interpret this in several ways:

  • Optimistic scenario: Grok actually works as Musk promised – without censorship and with full objectivity, even at the expense of the creator’s own image.
  • Cynical scenario: This is a great PR manement showing the “independence” of Grok, which was actually programmed to sometimes “reveal” Musk for greater credibility.
  • Realistic scenario: AI simply analyzes available data and draws logical conclusions, regardless of who created them.

Who won? Grok has certainly gained in the eyes of the entire industry

Altman himself may smile. His chatbot may not publicly support him in the dispute, but the competitor’s chatbot did it for him. Elon Musk, in turn, may wonder if he accidentally created too fair AI.

One thing is certain – in the era of artificial intelligence, even the most loyally programmed machines can surprise their creators. Is this the beginning of a new era in the relationship of a man-machine, where AI becomes really independent? Time will tell, but in Silicon Valley the objective truth has just appeared, i.e. a thing so rare as unicorns and not business ones;)
