The Polish Sejm passed the controversial law on cryptocurrencies. However, a long way to enter the regulation.

The Cryptocurrency PO Cryptocurrency Act and reading: Who was in favor and who was against?

Behind us and reading The government’s bill on the cryptoactic market. After him, the document was sent to the Public Finance Committee. Earlier, a vote was held to reject the bill in the first reading. Result? 188 MPs were in favor, 228 against, and 3 abstained.

Due to the fact that the project is controversial and is criticized by the industry, the result of voting should worry. How exactly did the voices spread?

PiS clubs, the Confederation, Confederation of the Polish Crown (this club submitted a request for rejection) and Republicans wanted to read in and reading. MPs from KO, Left, Poland 2050, PSL, Together and MP, Izabela Bodnar (earlier in Poland 20250) demanded further procedures.

Will there be a veto?

During work in the Commission, and then in the Senate of the Republic of Poland, parliamentarians can still change the content of the act, but – as the wider discussion shows around the regulation – the current coalition is not open in this field to modifications. Therefore, there are many indications that the bill will be voted by the Sejm and by the Senate. The only salvation is the president. And the latter at the beginning of August will be Karol Nawrocki, who, if he believed to MP Janusz Kowalski, is to veto the act in its current form.

The government’s draft act on cryptoctives does not meet the basic principle, which, when implementing EU law, should apply: “EU + zero” (national regulations should not extend what the EU proposes – editor’s note). Government regulations, if they came into force, would block the development of cryptoctives in Poland for years, and Poles are a fintech nation. The success of BLIK and many other solutions prove that cryptoactic should be treated as innovations, not as a threat

– said Kowalski Gazeta Wyborcza.

He also revealed his plan. At the stage of parliamentary works, PiS will submit several dozen amendments to the government project. And if these are not included, the project will be vetoed by the president.
