ChatGPT integrated with Spotify and Booking.com – what else will OpenAI come up with?

OpenAI has just raised the bar in the game for AI industry domination. At DevDay 2025, the company introduced a feature that could change the way we use ChatGPT – direct integration with popular applications. And no, you don’t need to switch between browser tabs here.

How does it work?

The mechanism is simple but effective. During a conversation with ChatGPT, just mention the name of the application (e.g. Spotify or Booking.com) and the system will automatically call up the appropriate tool. Moreover, ChatGPT itself can suggest the right app in the context of the conversation. The results appear in natural language, and the interactive interface displays directly in the chat.

Apps currently available include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow. More giants are planned: DoorDash, OpenTable, Instacart, Uber and AllTrails. Want to create a playlist? Just tell ChatGPT to do it on Spotify. Are you looking for a new apartment? Zillow will appear with a list of offers tailored to your needs.

Who can benefit from this?

The feature is now available to all logged-in users – whether you’re on the free plan or subscribed to Go, Plus or Pro. However, there is one catch: users from the European Union have to wait for now – who would have expected that? All “thanks” to the AI Act.

OpenAI has also released a new Apps SDK based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which opens the door for developers looking to integrate their own applications with ChatGPT. It is worth adding that OpenAI also introduced the InstantCheckout option to ChatuGPT, allowing for direct purchases in the chat, and announced the possibility of… conversing with other users inside the chat. The OpenAI combine is turning into something like the Chinese WeChat.

The numbers speak for themselves

During the event, OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT has reached 800 million weekly active users – up from 700 million in August. The company is getting closer to achieving its goal: 1 billion users by the end of the year. Is OpenAI turning ChatGPT into a super-app à la WeChat? Everything points to this. Who can keep up with this pace? We will definitely keep you informed about any news 😉
