A resident of the Puck poviat wanted to earn cryptocurrency market. Unfortunately, he was fooled by criminals for PLN 1.3 million.
Cheated using the “cryptocurrency” method
The 59-year-old man residing in the Puck poviat fell victim to the employee of the “Broker company”, who contacted him by phone and proposed an investment in cryptocurrencies. The later victim made a total of several transfers to the account of criminals for a total of PLN 1.3 million.
The scheme looked more or less as always: fraudsters contact the victim by phone (numbers probably from stolen databases), promise some and high profits from investment in cryptocurrencies. When the victim has transferred a significant amount to them, the contact suddenly breaks off.
So it resembles a bit of “pig’s slaughter”, which is a method of gaining the trust of the future sacrifice, persuading her to invest in cryptocurrencies, and then, when a given unfortunate pours money into the “stock exchange”, disappearing with funds. This type of crime is particularly cynical, because fraudsters often contact their victims using dating sites and use their loneliness.
How not to give up criminals?
Despite appearances, it is not very easy to give up criminals. It is simply not worth believing in “wonderful” investments. Placing money on the stock exchange Always It is associated with risk. If you are aware of this, inform your parents or grandparents about it. There are many indications that fraudsters aim at such people: older and less aware.
Policemen from the Puck poviat appeal to residents for caution and prudence in dealing with people offering unverified financial investments. They remind you to always analyze the credibility of investment offers, check contact details and not make decisions under time pressure. In case of doubt or suspicion of fraud, please contact me immediately to the emergency number 112.
The districts are particularly educating seniors that fraudsters often use false promises, manipulate information or create financial pyramids to extort money. They use various words and psychological phrases that are aimed at inspiring trust, raising emotions and a prison for quick decision
