Leading artificial intelligence researchers say that our world will not survive. And he just destroys him. So is there no sense to postpone money and dreams in old age and enjoy life now?
And will destroy our world?
Nate Soares, president of Machine Intelligence Research Institute, told the magazine The Atlanticthat he no longer pays money to his account 401 (K).
I just don’t expect the world to still exist
he said.
Dan Hendrycks, director of the Center for Ai Safety, shares this gloomy look and believes that when he reaches his retirement age, “everything will be fully automated – if we exist at all.”
This is a wider phenomenon of the so -called “Ai Doomers”, scientists who know AI and claim that the new technology will destroy humanity.
Although everything sounds like the hysteria of someone who read one science fiction book too much, we are talking about people who know what they are talking about. Geoffrey Hinton, often called “Godfather AI”, was one of the first famous people who began to warn us against the risk of extinction. In his last speeches, he estimated that there are 10 to 20% chances that AI would lead to the destruction of humanity in the next three decades. In 2023 he even left Google to be able to talk more freely about the dangers of artificial intelligence.
It’s not just about physical extermination. Scientists are afraid of changes in interpersonal relationships that will take place until 2035. A comprehensive study conducted by Imagining the Digital Future Center at Elona University, covering 301 global technological experts, showed that 50% of them expect more negative than positive changes at the level of social and emotional intelligence. Researchers suggested that people can more and more often prefer the AI company instead of interpersonal relationships.
Romantic AI partners will offer treated relationships that will make human relationships unnecessarily difficult
– wrote Nell Watson, chairwoman of the European Bureau of Responsible Artificial Intelligence.
How would AI destroy humanity?
How would artificial intelligence destroy humanity? Will he gain awareness and guide the army of terminators who kill us all? According to scientists, it’s about something else. For example, AI can receive an important task, e.g. to reduce CO2 secretion. A badly issued command can make it start to take action that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but also hit humanity. So it’s about bad process management, not a war of machines with people.
Finally, I have to calm down: all this for now expert warnings, which of course do not have to prove themselves. I also do not recommend (as probably every person from our editorial office) stopping saving for retirement: a plan and this is still the survival of humanity and its development!
