Bitcoin meets silver in the new collection of the Treasury Mint – Bitcoin.pl

The first coin from the “Bitcoin Evolution” series issued by the Treasury Mint contains an ounce of silver, is limited to only 500 pieces and costs PLN 799. There is an idea behind the project that may appeal to both bitcoiners and people just discovering the collectibles market.

“Absolutum”, the first part of the series, has several features that may support its value over time: low circulation, refined workmanship, certificate and access to further limited issues. However, this is not an ordinary silver investment or a way to replicate BTC’s performance. We checked what exactly the buyer receives and who may find this purchase particularly interesting.

What is Bitcoin Evolution? The first such series of the Treasury Mint

According to the product description, the coin weighs 31.10 g, is made of 999 silver and has a diameter of 40 mm. It features UV printing with a world map, selective gold plating of the BTC symbol and an inscription on the edge. The price also includes a dedicated presentation frame and a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is 500 pieces and the price visible in the store at the time of writing this text is PLN 799.

The store describes the product as a “silver coin”, although the promotional materials also use the word “coin”. It is a Bitcoin-inspired souvenir, not bitcoin saved on the network, a hardware wallet or a physical storage medium for the private key. Purchasing does not mean owning a satoshi and does not reflect changes in the BTC rate, although the growing popularity of Bitcoin may indirectly increase interest in items related to its history.

Five issues, decreasing circulation and a hidden message

The next parts of the series are scheduled to go on sale by autumn 2027. After “Absolutum”, “Aurum” was announced in an edition of 450 pieces, “Synapsis” in an edition of 400 pieces, “Anonymus” in an edition of 350 copies and the closing collection “Libertas”, of which only 309 pieces are to be produced. Each coin will have a different finish, including gold plating, rue coating, oxidation or patina.

First-time buyers receive Priority Minting status. It gives you access to a closed website and 48 hours of priority when purchasing subsequent issues at a pre-release price. The certificates of the next four coins are to contain fragments of the encrypted code. The person who completes the series will be able to read the message and receive the surprise announced by the Mint, the details of which have not been disclosed yet.

This mechanism can maintain interest in the collection for several months and increase the attractiveness of full sets. Since the first issue is to be 500 pieces and the last one only 309, there will never be more than 309 complete collections. Decreasing mintages enhance the rarity effect, but also mean that some “Absolutum” owners may later look for missing items on the secondary market. Priority Minting makes the purchase easier, although it does not guarantee that you will get every subsequent part.

The price includes much more than an ounce of silver

At the time of our verification, the Treasury Mint showed a silver rate of approximately PLN 250 per ounce. The metal itself was responsible for just over 31%. “Absolum” prices. The rest is the cost of design, production, gilding, frame, certificate and the bonus resulting from the limited edition. In the case of collector’s products, such a price structure is normal, because the buyer pays not only for the metal, but also for a specific issue and its history.

Product or comparative value Price Difference from “Absolute”
Silver contained in the numismatic item at the exchange rate on the date of analysis approx. PLN 250 The bonus is approximately PLN 549
One-ounce KGHM silver bar in the same store approx. PLN 483 “Absolutum” costs approximately 65 percent. more
Bitcoin-themed one-ounce silver coin in the same store approx. PLN 405 “Absolutum” costs almost twice as much

The comparison does not mean that the coin should cost as much as raw silver. Its most important value lies in its design, low circulation and the possibility of collecting the entire series. For the investor, this means that the future result will depend mainly on the interest of collectors. The value of the metal remains an additional security, but it is not the most important argument for the purchase.

If the value of the coin were to depend solely on silver, its price would have to increase approximately 3.2 times for one ounce to equal the purchase price of PLN 799. This scenario does not take into account the difference between the buying and selling prices or the costs of a possible auction. The product card also indicates 23% VAT. All this confirms that “Absolutum” should be assessed primarily as a collector’s item and only later as a way to invest in the precious metal.

What can support the increase in the value of “Absolutum”?

The mintage of 500 pieces is small, especially for a product related to a globally recognized topic. Bitcoin has a large and active community, and the first original series of a famous Polish metals seller may gain additional importance after many years. The decreasing number of parts, certificate, refined binding and the possibility of building a complete set also work to the project’s advantage.

The most interesting element may be the design of the entire series. The number of potential complete sets is limited to 309, and obtaining the last issues will likely be more difficult than purchasing the first one. If an active group of buyers develops around the collection, full sets with certificates may arouse the greatest interest on the secondary market.

However, low circulation alone does not guarantee an increase in price. On the collector’s market, demand, the reputation of the issuer, the condition of the item and the completeness of the packaging and documents are also important. Mennica Skarbowa is a company listed on NewConnect and a large distributor of precious metals, which makes the project a recognizable issuer. On the other hand, this is its first own numismatic line, so the secondary market is still developing.

The market shows that limited series can make profits

In materials promoting the new series, Mennica Skarbowa mentions two successful examples. The one-kilogram NBP coin “Canonization of John Paul II” was to increase in price from PLN 7,800 to approximately PLN 19,000. PLN, and the gold “Mieszko I” from approximately PLN 9,500 to PLN 21-23 thousand. zloty. This shows that carefully selected, limited emissions can, over time, achieve prices much higher than those issued at issue.

However, these results should not be directly transferred to “Absolutum”. Both indicated issues come from the National Bank of Poland, have a denomination and have the status of legal tender. NBP has been operating on the collector’s market for years and has an established buyer base, while “Bitcoin Evolution” is just beginning its own history. The examples show the potential of this category, but do not constitute a forecast of the price of the new series.

When assessing, it is worth looking not only at the offer price, but also at the actual transactions concluded. Only the appearance of sales at auctions and numismatic exchanges will show how the market values ”Absolutum”. For first buyers, this means entering at an early stage of the project, with a chance for increased interest, but without a ready price history.

For whom might purchasing “Absolutum” make sense?

The most natural recipient is a collector associated with the Bitcoin community who wants an aesthetic item commemorating the beginnings of the network. It is also a very interesting gift for a bitcoiner, especially if the setting, small circulation and the story told throughout the series are important. In both cases, the owner receives something more than an ounce of silver: a physical memento of the birth of digital money.

The coin may also be of interest to a person who believes in the development of the market for collectibles related to Bitcoin. The most arguments speak for a long horizon and building the entire series, rather than quick resale of the first part. It is worth ensuring that the item is in pristine condition, keeping the certificate and frame, because completeness may be of great importance to buyers later.

However, the offer has a different application than classic investment silver or bitcoin itself. A one-ounce bar and a recognizable bullion coin will better reflect the price of the metal, and purchasing BTC will provide direct exposure to its price. “Absolutum” can be a complement to them: a collector’s item that combines both worlds, but does not replace either asset.

Verdict: an interesting start to a series with collector’s potential

“Absolutum” has many advantages as a limited item for people who combine their interest in Bitcoin with collecting. The circulation of 500 pieces, refined workmanship, certificate and plan of a five-piece series give the project a chance to build its own community of buyers. An additional distinction is the fact that this is the first original collection of the Skarbowa Mint.

For PLN 799 we buy not only an ounce of silver, but above all the beginning of a limited series devoted to the history of Bitcoin. For a collector or bitcoiner who appreciates the design itself and wants to collect all five issues, the purchase can be really interesting. Low circulation gives room for value growth, although it cannot guarantee it. The most sensible approach to “Absolutum” is as a collector’s investment for years, whose utility value begins with the pleasure of ownership.
